Alex Wilcox

Alex Wilcox is an American music producer and DJ based in Berlin, known for his eclectic club music. His DJ sets feature his own productions, characterized by a genre-fluid, chaotic style with hard cuts, dynamic BPM shifts, and theatrical elements. Originally from Texas, Wilcox developed an early interest in 90s rock and played in a hard rock/funk band before exploring electronic music. His interest in techno grew during a visit to Berlin, leading him to focus on production. He refined his skills in Los Angeles, working at Chalice Recordings and assisting producer Pinkslip. Wilcox later moved to Detroit, where he frequently DJ'd and worked at UR Headquarters Submerge, receiving guidance from Mike Banks. He self-released the multi-genre album “Because the Sky is Blue,” with a track from the album, “Sleep Paralysis,” gaining attention from Anetha, which led to Wilcox contributing to her Mama Told Ya label with the EP "It's Okay to Cry." This release, featuring eccentric and unconventional techno, garnered further notice, leading to a 6-track EP on Nina Kraviz's Trip Recordings, which has been supported by various DJs. Wilcox has performed at venues such as Pal, Nexus, La Belle Électrique, and The Porn Shop, making his Berlin debut at Ellen Allien's "We Are Not Alone" party.
