AMÉMÉ
AMÉMÉ, born Hubert Sodogandji in Benin, West Africa, is an electronic music artist known for incorporating his cultural heritage into his work. His sound typically features Afro-leaning electronic music, tribal percussion, and spiritual vocals, built on a foundation of deep house and tech. AMÉMÉ channels influences from his upbringing, including traditional African music culture and the ceremonial traditions of voodoo, which emphasize human connection to the natural world through drums and chants. Before his focus on electronic music, AMÉMÉ was part of a hip-hop group in his home country. His introduction to electronic music came through French house, which ultimately shaped his musical direction. After moving to New York, he began to pursue DJing, later relocating to Berlin. AMÉMÉ also established One Tribe, a global community and brand that encompasses events and a fashion label, aiming to foster unity and positive outlook. His music has received support from notable artists like Black Coffee, Blond:Ish, and MoBlack, and he has released on labels such as One Tribe, Watergate Records, Abracadabra, and Sire Records. AMÉMÉ has performed globally at various electronic music hubs and festivals.
